    1) Go to this link:

    http://www.lifesitenews.com/ldn/2009/jun/09060109.html

read it and summarize the entire article into no more than a seven sentence paragraph.  You must, above all, answer the question "What does this have to do with the prophetic warning of Jeremiah to our world?"

    2)  Respond to this quote on euthenasia from Blessed Pope John Paul II:

"Even when not motivated by the selfish refusal to be burdened with someone who is suffering, euthanasia must be called a false mercy, and indeed a disturbing perversion of mercy.  True "compassion" leads to sharing another's pain; it does not kill the person who's suffering we cannot bear."

  • Born at 26 weeks gestation!  There are no laws protecting children at this age, if they are in their mother's wombs.

Complete Activity 1 found at the bottom left corner of pg. 184 of the text.  This must be two full paragraphs, TYPED, double spaced.  I would invite you to consider focusing your story on people with disabilities (folks with Downs Syndrome for example), the elderly in nursing homes, unwed mothers, unborn babies.  In other words, make the story focus on a very specific circumstance, a particular individual; avoid lumping all the poor into a faceless mass, which is half the problem to begin with.

Enter 5+ verses from the Book of Psalms into your OT Prayerbook, bring in to class everyday.

  • HOMEWORK

    1) Study hard for Ch 6 Test on The Kings; objective format, 60-68 point value.  It will cover all notes from "Saul: The First King of Israel through to wherever we ended within the section titled "David: King of Israel"  . Again, be sure to review any sections of scripture referred to in your notes as critical to review.

    2)  Your first entry into your new O.T. Prayer Book is to be chosen from the Book of Sirach.  It must be a minimum of two verses long but of course can be longer.

This journal will be collected Friday June 12th and is worth 30 points.  It will also be an important resource for you final exam. In other words, be sure to keep up on it.  Most importantly, I invite you to be sure to invoke the Holy Spirit before opening your Bible, asking for light and wisdom; make this assignment an act of prayer.
